Phoenix line-up:
Marc Verschuren - Bass
Guus Linnemann - Guitar
Jim Servaes - Guitar
Patrick Sint Nicolaas - Vocals
Toine Schaerlaeckens - Drums
It’s December 2008 when guitarist Mark Jansen wants to try one more time to put together a solid band. He brings in drummer Paul Vermeulen and vocalist Paul Oerlemans, both of whom he knew from former bands. Joined by bass player Marc Verschuren they make their first rehearsal a fact on December 4th, 2008 at the Toonzaal in Oosterhout. That very same evening Mark pitches his idea for a band name and further plans are made. Phoenix is born and the band would play steaming rock covers from song favorites of the band members.
Very soon they realize that one guitar player is not enough and two weeks later Phoenix is joined by David Maes, a guitar player Marc knows from former bands they played in. Sadly, David could not stay for long due to lack of time. This led to a round of auditions scheduled for February 2009, where, amongst others, Guus Linnemann had to show his worth. He proved to be the guitarist they needed and, in the end, Guus never left. With the line-up completed, Phoenix started to work incredibly hard on the setlist and get ready to perform live as soon as possible.
That same month the band moves headquarters to Rijsbergen where Jack van Aert has just finished his new music center, including storage lockers for the bands gear and even a rental van to haul equipment to shows. Jack will be a lifelong friend to the band and is always ready to help out with his technical knowledge and skills.
May 30th 2009 will be the date of the very first live show of Phoenix. They will play at “Bar Oud Brabant” and the place is packed for the evening! Phoenix rocks their first performance and as the Dutch say ‘blew the roof off’. It is perfectly clear that Phoenix is capable of playing great rock shows and from that moment on the band just wants more!
Through the following years there have been some line-up changes and a lot of milestones, but with the arrival of Toine on drums and Patrick on lead vocals the band is at a whole new level and better than ever!
So come join us and be ready to rock!
